I was born a foodie. My mom is Italian, and I was raised eating amazing home cooked meals (that always had lots of garlic in them). I was encouraged to expand my palette and try new foods, but I still seemed to stick to my classic Italian favorites, even when I went to restaurants, and my mom's mac and cheese (nothing beats it, sorry Panera). With my senior project, I'm cooking and eating tons of new foods that me and my family have never had before, while also sharing our favorite nightly recipes with you.
I learned how to bake and cook for myself at a rather young age, and started cooking desserts for my friends at school. I loved to see the look on their faces when I came in at 7am with a giant tray of cupcakes. Now, it's their turn to get into the kitchen! I want people to get off their devices, off the couch and cooking together, laughing together and eating together. I want others to experience the joy of creating a delicious meal from previously separate ingredients that I get each time I cook.
I hope that adding an international component will break Wayland a little further out of the bubble we’re in and encourage people to become more knowledgeable about the various, very different cultures that we don’t encounter every day. Being able to taste the food of different cultures transports me to that place, even if just for a moment. I hope that you're able to cook some amazing meals for your family and friends, and that you learn a little bit about its country's culture as well!
